A drawing needs to show what really matters

A rotating cutter removes material. Its shape, access to the part and the way the workpiece is held all affect what can be made. Before quoting, we check not just the overall size but the thickness, depths, internal corners and joining points.

Tell us the material, dimensions and thickness. We assess suitability first, including any workpiece you would like to supply.

A little planning goes a long way

Internal corners depend on the cutter

A rotating cutter has a diameter, so not every internal corner can be perfectly square. If another part needs to fit into a recess, show us the complete joint. We agree any necessary changes to the geometry before machining.

Workholding needs room

The cutter needs access, and the workpiece must be held securely. This can affect the order of operations and the extra material needed. Keep the starting workpiece dimensions separate from those of the finished part.

Be specific about accuracy

A general request for precision is not enough. Identify critical surfaces, holes and their positions relative to one another. What is achievable depends on the material and shape; a single blanket tolerance would say little about your particular part.

Good to know before you enquire

Which files should I send?

Send the drawing or model you have, along with an image of the intended result. We check whether the file format is suitable before preparing manufacture.

Can you machine material I supply?

First, we need to know its type, dimensions, condition and any surface coating. We agree whether we can accept it after assessing those details.

Is CNC engraving the same as laser engraving?

No. A CNC cutter removes material mechanically, while a laser works on the surface with a beam. The right process depends on the depth and appearance you want.

Can I order a single part?

Yes. For a one-off part, however, preparation makes up a significant share of the cost.

Is sanding included?

Your quote sets out the finishing included. Machining alone does not automatically mean a fully finished, varnished product.

CNC routing and engraving: drawings, materials and accuracy

CNC machining turns digital information into a physical shape. For the part to work once assembled, its material, tolerances, workholding and finish need to be considered together.

A drawing or a clear sketch

You do not always need a complete 3D model. For an initial assessment, we do need the dimensions, thickness and shape, with the most important surfaces clearly marked.

Material and process

Suitability for routing depends on the workpiece material, tool access and the detail required. We check the process and any geometric limitations before manufacture.

One part or a repeat run

A prototype and a small production run may need different preparation. Include the quantity and the consistency you need between parts in your first enquiry.

Mark the dimensions that matter

We can review your drawing or model in Bratislava or remotely. If the part needs to fit an assembly, tell us which dimensions are critical and how it will be fitted. Without that information, accurate machining alone cannot guarantee the right fit.
